Niki, your assistant Innkeeper

The Highland Lake Inn offers an enchanting escape to New Hampshire. One of the oldest homesteads in East Andover, this gentleman's farmhouse was originally built in 1767, enlarged in the early 1800's and completely restored in 1999.  The Inn, surrounded by fields, historic farmhouses and barns, sits on a country lane lined with rustic stone walls and shady sugar maples.

Our gracious Bed & Breakfast with its ten spacious and comfortably appointed guest rooms provides a perfect retreat for individual travelers, couples, and families.  The Highland Lake Inn also serves readily as a gathering place for reunions, business retreats, or family and holiday gatherings. The Highland Lake Inn contributes 10% of all Proctor Academy related revenue to the Proctor Academy Scholarship Fund and the same to the Tilton School Scholarship Fund. All parents and visiting prospect’s parents as well as all other visitors to the Proctor Academy and the Tilton School are invited to participate.  Please remember to mention your school affiliation while making a reservation.

Each room has its own full bathroom, flat screen cable TV, and Wi Fi access. The two guest rooms on the main floor also feature working gas fireplaces.

Guests will sleep comfortably in fresh luxurious Italian linens by Mascioni, and awake in the morning to the aroma of freshly brewed Black Bear Micro Roastery coffee or featured Harney & Sons Tea paired with an eclectic breakfast including fresh fruit, hot entrée and breads from New Hampshire’s illustrious Austrian bakery, Bread and Chocolate.

East Andover, New Hampshire is ideally located for all four seasons of recreation and relaxation.  Savor the vistas of neighboring Highland Lake, Kearsarge Mountain, and enjoy the Inn's own 7-acre grounds which adjoin a 21-acre nature preserve. Highland Lake Inn is located at the trail head of the Northern Rail Trail, a perfect place to snowmobile and cross-country ski in the winter months and walk and bike in the spring, summer and fall.

During the summer months relax with a book on one of the Inn's porches, walk across the street to swim at our private beach, launch your boat, ride your bicycle, hike, or play golf nearby.  In autumn hike or ride through the countryside and marvel at the spectacular color spectrum presented by native trees.  In winter put on your snowshoes, skis or skates and step outside to tour the fields or glide across to the lake.  Snowmobile on the local groomed trail system or enjoy cross-country and downhill skiing at resorts just a short ride from our front door.

The Highland Lake Inn is delighted to welcome visitors, students, parents, alumni, friends, faculty and scholars who attend such venerable neighboring institutions as Proctor Academy, Tilton School, Colby-Sawyer College, and the Gordon Research Conferences.

Whatever your purpose for travel to this area, rest assured you will enjoy the peace, tranquility, beauty and comfort of our inn and its surroundings.
